Dr. Alexander Meissner will give a presentation on the approach and implementation of variant configuration in application technology. In Dürr's case, this is automated paint application and seam sealing with the respective robots and application equipment. Based on a market analysis, variants are developed that cover the market requirements to a high degree (80:20 principle). The product variance in the robots, the application products and the associated control systems, including the respective software, is mapped to configuration solutions that are partly based on SAP, but also represent systems developed in-house. Finally, the application of the configurators is demonstrated using selected examples.
- Variant configuration is a central component for efficient engineering in application technology
- Variant configuration reduces processing costs and minimizes the error rate
- A comprehensive market analysis is crucial to ensure that the right systems are available.
